European Leaders Decry US Move as ‘Intimidation’
Officials from Europe such as the French president charged the US administration of “bullying and threats”, following the visa restrictions targeted figures that were central to efforts to introduce laws governing American tech companies.
“For far too long, European activists have spearheaded organised efforts to coerce American platforms to punish American viewpoints they disagree with,” stated a senior US official online. “The current administration will not stand for these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials joined France in criticizing the move.
The bans were enacted on Tuesday against an ex-European commissioner who helped draft the EU’s digital governance law, along with several anti-disinformation campaigners, from two in Germany and two in the UK.
